Living Your Sankalpa (Intention)
The start of the year is often the time we set intentions or resolutions for how we want our life to be for the coming year. This 5 day retreat with Gina Macauley will focus on setting and living your Sankalpa or heart felt intention, and will help you to get a great start to your year by having a clear intention.
Richard Miller defines Sankalpa as: ‘Born of the heart over a long period of time’ and Rod Stryker says: “By definition, a sankalpa should honour the deeper meaning of our life. A sankalpa speaks to the larger arc of our lives, our dharma—our overriding purpose for being here.” The sankalpa becomes a statement you can call upon to remind you of your true nature and guide your choices. — Kelly McGonigal.
“The resolve comes from deep within us, directly out of the mystery of who we ultimately are. It then informs our mind of a particular direction that we need to take, or are taking in our life.” — Richard Miller
It will also be an opportunity to consolidate your practice and to get a taste of practicing every day. When we begin practicing yoga everyday, we begin to notice how our body and mind changes and the very tangible benefits of practicing yoga.
This retreat, practicing everyday, will get you well and truely on the path to a home practice, and may even change your life.
During this retreat we will spend a bit of time assessing the year that’s been before clarifying our intention for the year to come.
We will start each day with an intention setting meditation followed by pranayama and general level asana. Mid morning will be iRest yoga nidra and the afternoon will comprise of some personal time (where you will be encouraged to complete some supporting exercises to that will help you to become even clearer with what you want from 2020) followed by some discussion and contemplative practices in the afternoon session.
In the past, this has been a very popular retreat, booking out each year.
Here is a great article about Sankalpa by Kelly McGonigal quoting two of my favourite teachers on the topic, Richard Miller and Anne Douglas.
Below is some of the feedback I received in the past about the early morning intensive:
"What a wonderful, powerful, inspiring week. Thank you so much. I thought I would find it hard to get up each morning but I was so excited and motivated that I didn’t have trouble at all." -- SM
"This week has empowered me, and has changed me forever ... it has been an amazing experience for me." -- AB
