I am so thrilled to have Anahata Giri at YogaHara to share with us her wonderful Sacred Sound Immersion. I did the teacher version of this with her many years ago and it consolidated my practice of mantra and chanting. Even though I had been learning mantra for many years previous, this workshop gave me the confidence to share and teach it in class.
The immersion is suitable for all levels, students and teachers alike.
In this one day immersion we will explore simple and uplifting sound practices to deepen, enliven and inspire our connection with ourselves. We will explore mantra and sound as a way to deepen our breath, focus our minds and open our hearts. The use of sound can release and transform emotional, physical and mental patterns, to allow space for a deeper beingness to permeate us.
Practices will range from simple humming practices to beautiful Sanskrit prayers, and will include both contemporary and traditional practices from four sound traditions: vedic, tantric, bhakti and nada yoga. This workshop will be deeply experiential as we flow between sound and silence to deepen and inspire our meditation and spiritual practice.
We explore sound as practice, not performance, so rusty voices are very welcome and no previous singing experience is required. This workshop is suitable for both beginner and experienced students or teachers of meditation/sound practice. The practices are physically gentle and students can lie down when they need to.
“To sing is not enough. We must tap the powers that lie beneath the consciousness of the song. The song leads down to the chant, the chant leads down to the tone, the tone leads down to the breath and the breath leads to the energy beneath the sound – the roar of silence.” -- Don Campbell
