Mission Beach ‘Sanctuary’ Yoga Retreat
With Gina Macauley
Sunday August 6th - Saturday August 12th, 2017

Namaste,

I are very excited to again be leading this retreat in tropical Far North Queensland for the 5th year in a row. The Sanctuary Retreat Centre, set on 50 acres of lush tropical rainforest, overlooks the Coral Sea at Mission Beach and has its own secluded beach. A gorgeous place and time to escape the Victorian winter and a chance to rejuvenate your heart and mind.

A retreat is a wonderful way to deepen your Yoga practice and this retreat will be a great opportunity to explore the other joys of Yoga that are only just touched upon in a class environment. You will be able to immerse yourself in the beauty and energy of the environment and the practice. This retreat is open to all levels of practitioner.

A typical retreat day may look something like this:

7am - Meditation and Asana practice
9am - Breakfast and rest
10.30am - Yoga Philosophy discussion and Yoga Nidra
12noon - Lunch and rest
4pm - Discussion, restoratives, chanting and meditation
6pm - Dinner and free time

There will be plenty of time in the schedule for exploration of your personal experience, or of the retreat centre, massage, swimming, hiking or just relaxing in a hammock.

Rainforest Huts
Capturing the cool, green light of the rainforest, accommodation is in secluded forest huts nestled in the rainforest canopy. A minimalist design maximises the sights, sounds and smells of the rainforest whilst giving some personal space to those creatures you may prefer not to sleep with. Accessed by a boardwalk to protect the forest floor, the rainforest huts have no solid walls, instead the timber structure is screened on all four sides with weather proof curtains able to be drawn for privacy and protection from adverse weather. Each hut has a small verandah, simple furnishings and sleeps two in either double or twin occupancy.

Alfresco Rainforest Huts
As pre the Rainforest Huts plus an Alfresco open air ensuite with a toilet and cold shower.

Deluxe Canopy Cabins
For those interested in more creature comforts, then the deluxe canopy cabins may be for you. Larger than the rainforest huts, these cabins are stylishly appointed with polished wooden floors, handmade natural timber furniture and spectacular glass-walled bathrooms looking out high in the trees. With a studio-style lounge and bedroom and a private, furnished verandah, the canopy cabins offer superior accommodation in an entirely natural environment.

More info on the accommodation can be found by clicking here.

Breakfast and lunch can be purchased in the Sanctuary Longhouse Restaurant or self prepared in the communal self-catering kitchen. More information on dining at Sanctuary can be found by clicking here. The self catering kitchen has been a very popular option in past years. There will be an opportunity for you to shop for supplies when you arrive.

Getting There

Mission Beach is between Townsville and Cairns. Cairns is the nearest airport. The earlier you book flights the cheaper they are.

A bus transfer from the airport to the retreat centre will also be arranged at an additional cost of approximately $50 each way. Details of the bus will be provided once you have booked your place on the retreat.

Testimonials from past participants

This retreat gives me time to find my balance again. My work-life balance living part-time in a busy capital city, travelling to and from country Victoria and caring for family tends to override the 'life' component and 'work' takes over. This week gives me the opportunity to reset my priorities again. -- Kaye

I found the retreat transformative. Clearly I was in the right space to take on all that was on offer, although I didn't realise that at the time. It allowed me to finally give myself permission to look after myself, to be number one and I am now doing this admirably! The teachers were outstanding as well as being truly lovely and real people. The group really worked well. The location and facilities were so so beautiful and perfect and so me. I am so appreciative. -- Deborah

Took a chance and attended this retreat with no knowledge of the teachers. What joy! Fantastic, restorative and strengthening - and all in paradise! -- Angela (3 time participant)

For anyone who hasn't been on a retreat before and is worried about it being too hard or too stringent (think 5am starts,'hardcore' yoga poses and long periods of noble silence), this is the retreat for you (think laughter during classes, relaxing on the beach at lunchtime and a glass of wine with a delicious meal and great company at night). Thank you ... for one of the best experiences I've had in a long time! -- Kristin

I have been an attendee at 3 of Gina's Mission Beach retreats. Each one has been unique and just what my body and soul was requiring at the time. Even though some of the information may have been the same I have been able to connect with it on a different level and delve deeper than the time before. Each time I have felt compelled to go for completely different reasons and each time I have come home feeling a deep sense of peace and groundedness and deliciously nourished. Each time a little bit more becomes embedded. Gina is an amazing teacher and creates a space that allows for genuine connection with self and a beautiful feeling of community too. -- Jane (3 time participant)

Be kind to yourself and go on retreat - food, sun, like-minded people, yoga, meditation and healing. It's all on offer there for you. -- Dannielle (3 time participant)
